TAFE Week 9 - (week 7 task finished) Fixing up a poorly written site

Exercise #4: Write a website article that encourages visitors to sign up for a weight loss program.  The tone used should be encouraging, sensitive and attractive the target audience.

Example of poor copy - “If you want to stop wasting your life and being a wuss letting people walk all over you, you need help. You’re not going to make it on your own and you need someone to help you do it. Of course, if you’re happy where you are being a loser, that’s your choice. I’m not going to try to convince you. My time is valuable.”

Rewrite:
Are you tired of wasting money and time slogging it out and losing nearly nothing?

With this program we don’t treat you different, we treat you like a person and as a person you want results! Not being screamed and yelled at like drill Sergeant having a bad day.

We here know this is a wrong approach and is not going to get you anywhere so we supply a friendly atmosphere and plenty of exercises to choose from. Don’t be told you’re not good enough because you are here.

If you want to contact someone on the course or just want to chat. Call 12352 23451 NOW! To get a hold on your weight and keep it off FOREVER!

Week 8 TAFE Media. Ideas for a walking stick for gen Y

BPM STICK - The LED lights flash with the music beat.

Light Saber Cane- A motion sensitive walking stick when you turn the bottom up to the sky will cause the lights to come on and make the light saber effect with noise. (not to be used as a weapon)

iStick - Who needs to shuffle when you can limp with the ability to hold a whopping 40,000 songs and a foldout 4 inch retina display for movies and apps.

Google Walk - with the built-in GPS and maps you can plot where you have been, where you are going, and what is around perfect for going out on the town with turn by turn navigation. When you get home see on google maps where you have been also plan your next trip.

Nerf Stick - Have some fun with the Nerf Stick allowing you to sneak a shot with out anyone seeing just by lifting up the bottom of the stick to reveal a hidden Nerf dart and is fired by a button on the top of the walking stick.

Week 8 TAFE Media. Critique

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NQ2yLlaGoM

Today I am critiquing a youtube video for GlamSticks it was a task set out from the teacher everyone in the class has to do it. If you would like to see the advert click the link up the top.

To start this critique with a positive the ad is well spoken and tells a lot about the product. But there is a lot of negatives the images do not show of the brand very well with there low resolution and crackling microphone. It also was boarding with the lack of a sound track so it ended up pretty dry.

If you wanted to market this the gen Y then this product would not sell with the type of style and the presentation of the ad, with no thrills or excitement to it at all. this basic advertising style just wont cut it.

Week 7 TAFE Media

Item
VHS and VCR players

Companies that made VHS’s and/or VCR players
Samsung
Sony
Hitachi
JVC
Marantz
Sharp
Toshiba
Zenith

List why you think it is not currently popular
It is not currently popular because of DVD/Blu-ray disks where you can go to any part of the movie without having to wind it forwards or wind it back. Another thing is when you are finished with a movie on a disk you just have to push play watch it from the start again with VCR you have to rewind it to the start to watch it again.

Mind map

3 ideas on how it could increase in popularity with VHS

Retro copy with of the same DVD/Blu-ray movie like a digital copy except a VHS
Have cool looking VCR’s for retro factor
Make new feature built-in to the VCR like internet and the ability to record movies from a internet streamed movie.

Slogan for VHS

VHS 4:3 never looked cooler
